Today we met Karl at the Rhine Tower (Düsseldorf’s TV Tower). It is the largest digital clock in the world. The 360 view of Düsseldorf was spectacular. We actually sat in a rotating restaurant upstairs and had lunch…made a full 360 exactly.
At lunch, Karl gave us all some special gifts. The kids received €2 coins (so fun to discover foreign currency!). For me, a brand new €25 silver coin that is not actually in circulation. They are aimed at collectors and only around 250,000 have been put in the marketplace. Sean received an extremely rare, over 2000-year-old roman coin! We were all in awe as we took a look at it through a lighted magnifying glass.
After lunch, we said goodbye to Karl and then walked along the river to The Old Town once more to have a look in the shops and get a coffee. Then it was home to watch “fooßball” promptly at 6pm as the Italy vs. Spain result matters to Germany. That didn’t end as planned?…Italy?
After the match and some rest, we met Steffi for dinner and the England/Iceland match. Another surprise ending??!!
One small misstep, do not give the kiddos Tiramisu just before bed…effects of rum do not cancel out the effects of espresso.
Pacman ghosts everywhere in Düsseldorf?? The kids have made a game of spotting them of course.
