Travel day! It started off with a bang when we jumped on the wrong train to the airport. Yikes, that was fun with 3 kids and 5 bags. Figured it out quickly, got off and back on the train heading the other direction. Scratched the train…cab was easier in this case and now we were out of time. Rome awaits!

Flying over Switzerland was the highlight of our journey from Düsseldorf to Rome. Fiona spotted the snow-capped peaks poking out of the clouds from afar. The impressive views simply take your breath away!

We arrived in Rome just after noon and immediately had our first official Italian pizza.

There was still enough daylight for a walk by Trevi Fountain (for Fiona to buy a selfie stick), the Pantheon, dinner at Campo de’ Fiori and of course, GELATO.

It’s true what you read, Rome is crowded and HOT right now. Not to mention the crazy drivers are out in full force. We’ll see how this goes…
